Decatur Book Festival Introduces New Look Ahead of 20th Anniversary

DECATUR, Ga. — The Decatur Book Festival (DBF), one of the most beloved independent book festivals in the country, today unveiled a brand refresh in anticipation of its 20th anniversary. The rebrand includes a distinct new logo, font suite, color palette and website. The full visual identity will make its official debut at the 20th anniversary festival on October 3-4, 2025.

“To usher in this new chapter, we needed a fresh, updated brand that would honor the Decatur Book Festival of today, a flourishing literary festival that is changing and evolving but still staying true to our original mission,” said Mathwon R. Howard, DBF President. “I’m astonished at how this vibrant new look so beautifully represents the future vision we have for the festival and how nicely it connects with the charm and ethos of our treasured city of Decatur.”

The greatest shift from the festival’s previous look is a new logomark with a graphic nod to the festival’s heartbeat and reason for existence — the book. Designed by Sarah Sanders Creative in close collaboration with the DBF Board of Directors and staff, the identity system includes a spectrum of bold color combinations that adds a bright aesthetic to merchandise, festival promotions and marketing materials. This forward-thinking identity will mark DBF as Atlanta’s premier literary event and reinforce its position as a key cultural destination for authors, readers, and creatives from across the country.

As a treasured community event for two decades, the annual festival weekend features a wide range of activities, including author panel sessions, book signings, cooking demonstrations, live music, food, children’s activities and exhibiting vendors from across the country. Lineups and programming are to be announced in the coming months.

The Decatur Book Festival continues to welcome financial and in-kind supporters at all levels for this year’s 20th anniversary festival. For inquiries, please contact Executive Director Leslie Wingate at leslie@decaturbookfestival.com.
