Over 90% of the Decatur Book Festival's funding comes from individual donations and sponsorships, which are crucial to keeping the festival free and open to the public. Your support helps us continue bringing world-class authors, educational programming, and community events to Decatur and beyond.​

  • IRA Charitable Rollover
    Use Your IRA to Support the Decatur Book Festival! If you're 70½ or older, you can make a donation directly from your Traditional or Roth IRA to the Decatur Book Festival that will lower your taxable income. This Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) allows you to donate up to $100,000 per year from your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) without incurring federal income tax on the withdrawal. It’s a win-win—for you and the festival! To make a gift, simply direct your IRA custodian to send your donation directly to the Decatur Book Festival.
