Join us in the Decatur Library to hear from Emerging Student Writers! These special sessions feature talented student writers from Georgia colleges reading their original work in 45-minute sessions throughout the day.
This event is free and open to the public. No tickets are required, and seating is first come, first served.
About the University of Georgia Emerging Student Writers:
Cloud Conrad is a communications specialist with a 30-year career in advertising, marketing, and corporate training. She currently works as an independent dementia caregiver trainer for professional and family caregivers while earning a MFA in UGA’s narrative nonfiction program. She lives in Winder, Georgia.
Ellen Eldridge is a recent graduate of the UGA MFA, and she holds bachelor's degrees in psychology and communication. She works by day as a health care reporter for Georgia's NPR member station. By night, she writes with the goal of piecing together her past in a way that supports her family's future.
Megan Farrer is a writer, bartender and barista in Atlanta. Her work centers the stories of low wage and service industry workers in the city, doing what they can to make it through their days and survive the next. She is also a recent graduate of the MFA program at UGA.
Lorna Fenenbock is at work on two books: Small Cheese: The Investor That Fed the Mouse, the untold story of the concessionaires whose money and sweat equity saved Walt Disney's dream of Disneyland from collapse, and Shankill & Falls, which follows two families coping with the Troubles in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Amanda Greene is a freelance photographer and writer. Her work explores life in southern cultural and geographical landscapes. She lives near Athens, Georgia, with her husband and two dogs.
Georgie Harris is a first-year MFA student. She is a working musician and a recent fellow of the creative residency program with the Hambidge Center for Creative Arts & Sciences.
James Swift is deathly afraid of social interaction. So naturally he got a degree in communication and started a career in journalism, public relations and writing for pretty much anybody who will pay him on time. Just one thing terrifies him more than public speaking — and that's never speaking at all when he had the chance.
