Georgia College and State University - Emerging Student Writers

Join us in the Decatur Library to hear from Emerging Student Writers! These special sessions feature talented student writers from Georgia colleges reading their original work in 45-minute sessions throughout the day. 

The stage will be situated alongside The Book As Art v.14: Ghosted exhibit, creating a vibrant atmosphere where visual art and creative writing come together.

This session will be held on the Fourth Floor of Decatur Library. To reach the Fourth Floor, you'll need to take the elevator on the right (when you're facing the elevators–it's labeled). If the other elevator opens when you call, please take it to the third floor, exit, and press the up button again to call the correct elevator.

This event is free and open to the public. No tickets are required, and seating is first come, first served.

About the Georgia State College Emerging Student Writers:

Isabelle Anderson is a poet from Baltimore, Maryland, and a third-year MFA student at Georgia College. She received her BA in English in 2022 from Washington College where she was a finalist for the Sophie Kerr Prize and the recipient of the Pfister Poetry Prize. When she isn't writing, she's usually on a long walk looking at bugs.

Zi'Andria Corley is an M.F.A. Candidate at Georgia College & State University. She is a recipient of the 2026 AWP Intro Journal Awards and has been nominated for the Best New Poets Anthology. Her work has appeared or is forthcoming in Revolute, Callaloo, Quarterly West, and elsewhere. She is currently working on a poetry collection.

Emma Harding is an MFA candidate and professional editor in Milledgeville, Georgia. She serves as the Assistant Managing Editor for Peach, the literary journal at Georgia College & State University. Her poetry, flash fiction, and visual art can be found in several journals, including Sketches, Artifex, Central Review, streetcake Magazine, and Spectrum Magazine. In her free time, Emma enjoys watching The Rookie with her two cats, Berry "Barry" Barneby Harding and Alfie. Macie Hayden is a writer from Southern Appalachia. Calling West Jefferson, North Carolina home, they recently earned their Bachelor's degree in Creative Writing & Literature from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and are currently pursuing their MFA in Creative Writing with a concentration in poetry at Georgia College & State University. Their work has been published or is forthcoming in Eunoia Review, Carolina Muse Literary & Arts Magazine, Ghost Light Lit, and The Lavender South. When not writing, they can be found enjoying bluegrass music, roaming the outdoors, or spending time with their grandmother and biggest supporter, Nona Richardson.

Noah Lorey is a third-year graduate student at Georgia College & State University, where he is earning a Master of Fine Arts in Fiction. Originally from Wisconsin, Noah also earned his undergraduate degree from Emory University, where he worked on several student publications and wrote, produced, and acted in a one-act play at Emory's Oxford campus. Noah loves to travel, having spent time in such places as Vietnam and Ireland, and much of his writing focuses on the importance of place in making sense of the world. Noah is currently working on an adaptation of the ancient Greek myth of the Minotaur, transposed onto a contemporary Midwestern setting.

Fabiana Ungaro is a queer, Peruvian poet and writer. She is an MFA candidate at Georgia College and State University. Her work utilizes nature, symbolism, and a sense of place to explore themes of queerness, existentialism, childhood trauma, assimilation, and destiny. Her creative nonfiction piece, "My Sister and I," was published in Cadence Collective. She has a professional background in communications and journalism and holds a Bachelor of Science in Communication with a minor in Journalism from the University of Central Florida.

Ameen Veach is a writer from Northern California. From the outskirts of the bay, he recently earned his BA in Creative Writing from Chapman University and is currently pursuing his MFA in Creative Writing with a concentration in fiction at Georgia College & State University. His work has been published in Prairie Margins, Ouroboros Literary & Arts Magazine, and Calliope Magazine. When not writing, he can be found creating tabletop game systems, taking care of his cats, and taking weekend drives to visit his partner and biggest fan in Orlando, Florida.
