Join us for the Children's Parade at the Decatur Book Festival! Led by author, storyteller, and percussionist Jerry G. White, the fun kicks off at 9:30 AM on Sat, Oct. 4. Costumes encouraged! Meet at the Entertainment Stage and parade to the First Baptist Church for a festive start to the day.

Kick off the 20th Anniversary of the Decatur Book Festival with our annual Children’s Parade, led by author, storyteller, and percussionist Jerry G. White (Anansi and the Colorful Kente Cloth and Anansi and the Colorful Kente Cloth Coloring Book, 1010 Publishing).
Parade Details:
Meet at: Entertainment Stage (intersection of Clairemont Ave. and E. Ponce de Leon Ave.)
Time: Arrive by 9:30 AM – Parade begins at 9:40 AM sharp
Route: Walk down Clairemont Avenue to the First Baptist Church of Decatur (FBCD)
Arrival: Ends at FBCD in time for the start of children’s programming at 9:55 AM
Costumes: In honor of our 20th anniversary, kids are encouraged to wear fun, celebratory costumes. Anything playful and festive goes!
Jerry G. White will lead the way with rhythm and drums, setting a festive tone for this beloved, family-friendly tradition. With street closures in place downtown, the parade is a fun and lively way to walk through the heart of the festival. We look forward to celebrating together!
