The event will be held at The Task Force for Global Health on Saturday, October 4 at 1 pm.


Recognized as a global health hub, Atlanta is home to more than 230 global public health organizations working in 150+ countries. Engage in a conversation with leaders from the CDC Foundation, The Carter Center, CARE, and The Task Force for Global Health to learn about current trends in the fast-changing world of global health,emerging challenges, and how Atlanta institutions and their partnerships are fostering a healthier world for everyone, protecting Americans and people around the world.The panel will be moderated by World Affairs Council of Atlanta President and former journalist Rickey Bevington. Tall Tales BookShop will offer a selection of public health books for sale, including works by Task Force’s Co-Founder and former CDC Director Dr. Bill Foege, winner of the 2012 Presidential Medal of Freedom for his work to eradicate smallpox.

PARKING INSTRUCTIONS FOR TASK FORCE FOR GLOBAL HEALTH


Note: Please use the Task Force parking deck entrance on Swanton Way. The Task Force parking deck entrance on W Ponce de Leon Avenue will be closed. If the Task Force parking deck is full, here are other parking options during the Decatur Book Festival.


The address to The Task Force for Global Health is: 330 West Ponce de Leon Avenue, Decatur, GA 30030.  If you decide to park at the The Task Force for Global Health parking deck, please enter the parking deck entrance located off Swanton Way. The Swanton Way parking deck entrance is next to the Fur Side Pet Grooming and Supplies (308 W Ponce de Leon Ave J, Decatur, GA 30030). 


The Task Force parking deck has a vehicle height limit of 6 feet 8 inches (taller vehicles may not fit) and there is no elevator available in the deck. To enter into the parking deck via Swanton Way on Saturday, October 4 please do the following:


  1. If in front of our building (330 W Ponce de Leon Avenue) please proceed to the traffic light (Ponce de Leon Place). If you are coming from Commerce Drive then make a left onto Ponce de Leon Place.  If coming from the other direction then you will make a right turn.

  2. Once on Ponce de Leon Place come to the stop sign and turn right

  3. Proceed 100 feet to come to our parking deck, turn right into the first entrance (if you are coming from the other direction on Swanton Way, turn left into our parking deck).  You will see a sign in front of the parking deck with the event name. In this case it will say "Decatur Book Festival Parking."

  4. Please feel free to park anywhere. Level 1 of the parking deck will be reserved for accessible parking and for speakers and vendors for The Task Force event at 1 pm. See photo below for photo via Google Maps of the parking deck located on Swanton Way.
