About

Join us in the Fourth Floor Gallery & Event Space at the Decatur Library for the Emerging Student Writers Stage! This special event features talented student writers from Georgia colleges reading their original work in 45-minute sessions throughout the day. The stage will be situated alongside The Book As Art v.13: Mixed Messages exhibit, creating a vibrant atmosphere where visual art and creative writing come together.

This event will be held on the Fourth Floor of Decatur Library. To reach the Fourth Floor, you'll need to take the elevator on the right (when you're facing the elevators--it's labeled). If the other elevator opens when you call, please take it to the third floor, exit, and press the up button again to call the correct elevator.

About the Agnes Scott Emerging Student Writers

Mayleigh Carvana is an undergraduate at Agnes Scott College and will receive a Bachelors in English Literature-Creative Writing this December. She specializes in fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. In her academic career, she has participated in Agnes Scott College’s Writers' Festivals with former Poet Laureate of Mississippi, Beth Ann Fennelly, and Lauren Gunderson, the Kirk Writer in Residence. In her free time, Mayleigh is creating designs in her sketchbook as she pursues a minor in Studio Art as well.

Karmon Christopherson is a trans-queer writer pursuing his B.A. in English Literature-Creative Writing at Agnes Scott College. His debut micro-chapbook, Beast Country, was published through kith books in 2024. His fiction has been featured in Dumbo Press and was an honorable mention at the 53rd Agnes Scott Writers’ Festival. In addition to his writing, he's the Lead Editor and Fiction Editor for American Weirdo Magazine. He is currently working on a novella about queer nightlife.

Kylie Krause is a senior at Agnes Scott College, pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature-Creative Writing. Her senior project consists of a 45-page manuscript which is a blend of meta-fiction, gothic elements, and romance. When outside of the lecture hall, Kylie works at the Agnes Scott McCain Library as a circulation student assistant and technical services/collections development project manager. After graduation, she hopes to pursue a master's degree in Library and Information Science while still developing as a writer. Kylie works primarily in the genres of fiction and auto-fiction.

Imani Milligan is a Senior at Agnes Scott College. Her major is Creative Writing. Her concentrations include long-form fiction writing and screenwriting, blending a love of storytelling with her passion for film to define character and voice in her works. Most of her inspiration comes from the time she often enjoys spending with family and friends, sharing stories, studying authors like Octavia E. Butler, and watching films like American Fiction and Eve’s Bayou. Outside of her literary endeavors, Imani dedicates her time to campus leadership,  community-building,  and natural photography.

Alexa Robinson is a senior at Agnes Scott College, where she is pursuing a major in Political Science and a minor in English. Originally from Birmingham, Alabama, she has been writing for as long as she can remember, using words as a lens to explore both personal and societal narratives. A passionate advocate for the power of storytelling, Alexa is deeply committed to understanding the intersections of culture and identity through her work. She draws inspiration from her southern roots and academic pursuits, blending her love of literature with her commitment to social change. As she approaches graduation, Alexa looks forward to continuing her journey as both a writer and a scholar, hoping to attend law school.

Paige Walker is a writer from Indianapolis, Indiana, and a current junior at Agnes Scott College studying English Literature-Creative Writing. Her short story “Chad’s Three Year Extravaganza” was published in the 2024 staff issue of Agnes Scott College’s literary magazine, the Aurora. In addition to this, she was awarded an Agnes Scott English department award titled the Janef Newman Preston Prize in Drama/Screenwriting in 2025.
