About
We’re kicking off this year’s festival with a special Kidnote celebrating internationally bestselling author Angie Thomas and her new book Nic Blake and the Remarkables: The Book of Anansi, the highly anticipated sequel to the instant #1 bestseller Nic Blake and the Remarkables: The Manifestor Prophecy, an inventive, funny, and fast-paced fantasy that launched a new trilogy inspired by African American history and folklore.
Now a certified hero, Nic Blake finally has everything she dreamed of: a loving family, a true home in the magical city of Uhuru, and the chance to master her Gift at Manifestor School. But happily-ever-after doesn't last long. A former idol turned vengeful outcast is after her, a chilling prophecy still looms, and Nic is grappling with a strange new power she can't control. When a secretive group of Manifestors demands she find the legendary Book of Anansi, or risk exposing the truth about her Gift, Nic, her twin brother Alex, and best friend JP must embark on their most dangerous adventure yet.
Angie Thomas is the author of the award-winning, #1 New York Times bestselling novels Nic Blake and the Remarkables: The Manifestor Prophecy, The Hate U Give, On the Come Up, and Concrete Rose as well as Find Your Voice: A Guided Journal for Writing Your Truth. She is also a coauthor of the bestselling collaborative novels Blackout and Whiteout. A former teen rapper who holds a BFA in creative writing, Angie divides her time between her native Jackson, Mississippi, and Atlanta, Georgia. You can find her online at angiethomas.com.
The event will be followed by a book signing with Angie Thomas.
