In Nancy Kress' Tomorrow's Kin: Book One of the Yesterday's Kin Trilogy and Kent Lester's The Seventh Sun, humans do exactly that. Let's hope the scientists are well equipped to prevent some alien invasions.

Nancy Kress is the author of 22 books, 14 of which are science fiction or fantasy novels. She has won three Nebula Awards, a Hugo Award and the John W. Campbell Memorial Award. Kress is the monthly "Fiction" columnist for Writer's Digest Magazine. She teaches regularly at Clarion.

He has always had a strong interest in science, technology and oceanography, which is reflected in the scientific accuracy of The Seventh Sun, his first novel. Scott Hawkins

Scott Hawkins's first novel, a dark fantasy called The Library at Mount Char, was published in 2015. Hawkins is an IT professional with a large health care company in the Atlanta area. He is the author of several technical books on the Linux ecosystem. Hawkins lives north of Atlanta with his wife and a whole bunch of rescue dogs.
