Nicole Seitz is the author of seven novels—The Cage-maker, Beyond Molasses Creek, The Inheritance of Beauty, Saving Cicadas, A Hundred Years of Happiness, Trouble the Water, and The Spirit of Sweetgrass. Her novels have been named to annual best-of lists from Library Journal, Southern Living, Romantic Times, IndieBound, and the Southern Independent Booksellers Alliance. Her short stories and essays have been published or performed in the Charleston City Paper, Literary Dogs and Their South Carolina Authors, Marked by the Water, and Listen to Your Mother. She’s also written and illustrated articles for Deep South Magazine, South Carolina Magazine, the Island Packet, Moultrie News, House Calls Magazine, and others. Most recently, she edited When You Pass through Waters: Words of Hope and Healing from Your Favorite Authors. Seitz holds a B.A. in journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a B.F.A. in illustration from the Savannah College of Art and Design. She lives in Charleston where she teaches art and summer workshops for creative writing and illustration.
