AJC Decatur Book Festival Street Fair Exhibitor Information

DBF Street Fair: September 2–3, 2017

The DBF Street Fair is held annually in downtown Decatur, Georgia, over the Labor Day weekend. There are over 200 exhibit spaces installed in the city’s main streets of Ponce de Leon Avenue, Clairemont Avenue, and Sycamore Street, as well as on the city square and around the historic DeKalb County Old Courthouse. Exhibitors range from small to large publishers, writers and poets displaying their latest works, writing clubs and a variety of fun and interesting businesses that appeal to our attendees.

Exhibit space is typically sold out by late July or early August. Exhibit space is sold in 10x10 (100 square foot) increments; we can accommodate exhibits sizes such as 10x10, 10x20, 10x30, 10x40, 20x20, 20x30 and larger.

Exhibit space cost is based on a 10x10 package, ranging from $675 to $825, depending on when payment is made:

  • Early Bird: payment made by May 15: $675 per 10x10 space
  • Discount: payment made after May 16 and before July 1: $725 per 10x10 space
  • Standard: payment made after July 1: $825 per 10x10 space

Each basic exhibitor package includes the following:

  • One covered and enclosed 100 square foot tented space (10x10)
  • One 8 foot table
  • Two folding chairs
  • One booth ID sign with one exhibitor name and booth number
  • One listing in the event program; this program is published in The Atlanta Journal Constitution newspaper and also distributed onsite; total distribution is 300,000 copies

Additional items available (for additional cost):

  • 3 amps/360 watts of electrical service is $150 (limited service, not available in all locations)
  • Additional tables $35 each
  • Additional chairs $15 each

DBF Street Fair Facts

There are three primary exhibit areas at the DBF:

  1. The Family Zone: Children's author exhibitors; this area is located on the Sycamore Street where our Children's Stage is located
  2. The Culinary Village: An area for invited cookbook writers and related exhibitors; this area is located adjacent to the Food & Cooking Stage
  3. The main exhibit area where writers and publishers of all genres exhibit

The DBF is held rain or shine. The festival does not issue refunds based on inclement weather or a registered exhibitor's decision to not attend.

Full payment for exhibit space is required at the time of registration.

Starting in July, all registered exhibitors will receive emails with assigned booth numbers, maps of the fairgrounds, instructions for installation, parking locations and other exhibitor information.

The DBF reserves the rights to reject any application deemed unsuitable or inappropriate for our event, or for any other reason, at our sole discretion. All exhibitors are required to read and sign acknowledgement of rules and regulations of exhibiting before completing booth registration.

FAQs

The DBF provides a 4-walled weather-tight tent as part of the basic booth package; some exceptions may be arranged for exhibitor-provided tents with show management written approval, in advance.
All exhibitors are responsible for compliance with federal and state tax law, and for collecting and remitting applicable Georgia state sales tax. A state sales tax form is provided to each exhibitor.
Installation information will be sent to all registered exhibitors in August. Exhibitors must install their materials based on their booth number at the provided times.
No food, beverages, alcohol or tobacco products are permitted for sale by exhibitors, no exceptions. There is some leeway on the sale of non-book (but related) items by exhibitors who are mainly selling books (for example, sales of related printed materials or educational toys in The Family Zone). All non-book item sales must be approved in writing by show management, in advance. You can request your booth location within the registration site, but there is no guarantee that you will be assigned the requested location, as placement is decided by show management. The DBF has exhibitors who have been with us since the first event in 2005 and these long-time exhibitors have placement priority.
Labor Day weekend Saturday from 10:00 AM till 6:00 PM and Sunday 12:00 PM till 6:00 PM.
Yes, we provide volunteers to assist exhibitors to unload and load out their materials. How to arrange this help will be sent in our exhibitor informational emails. We also provide an onsite Exhibitor Service Desk open for move in and move out and during all show hours to assist exhibitors for additional furniture orders, local information, and general Q and A.
