Find your next favorite book, check out our great artists, or have a refreshing drink or some yummy snacks at the Festival's lively Book Market and Street Fair, a gathering of hundreds of publishers large and small, local artisans, merchants, and food vendors. On Sunday, be sure to check out the Red Eye Gravy Music stage at the DeVry plaza.
Honey, you’re tired, you’ve got bags of books, but you’re determined to see the next author on your list. Sit a spell in the shade on the south side of the Old Courthouse. Put your feet up, have a soda or a nice iced tea at the Kudzu Lounge. Be sure to say “Hi” to George and Kate.
Enjoy free & secure bike parking provided by the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition; thank you to Bicycle South and the Decatur Downtown Development Authority. Find the free bike valet on N. McDonough, in front of the DeKalb County Courthouse.
Can you imagine using a steamroller as a printing press? No? Well, it’s happening on Saturday, September 1st at 11:00 am, 12:30 pm, and 5 pm and on Sunday, September 2nd at 12:30 pm, 2:00 pm, and 3:30 pm, and 5 pm on North McDonough Street.
At the Print Big! demonstrations, artists from Atlanta Printmakers bring hand carved 4’ by 8’ woodblocks designed around the theme: Books, reading and literature. The goal of Print Big! reflects the mission of the Atlanta Printmakers Studio — to support and celebrate the vitality of fine art printmaking and to educate the community about this historic image-making medium. Each woodblock will be printed the day of the event on fabric using a steamroller as a press. The banners will be displayed on the community bandstand throughout the Festival. One will be raffled off in support of the Atlanta Printmakers and the AJC Decatur Book Festival.
