Two Membership Levels Offer Benefits for Individuals, Families, and Book Clubs
June 7, 2010
Membership in two new groups that support The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Decatur Book Festival (AJC DBF) ensures a seat at the table for year-round book festival events and VIP treatment at the annual celebration of books and reading on the Decatur Square Labor Day weekend.
The AJC DBF Circle offers membership levels for individuals, families, and book clubs, and includes invitations to special book festival events year round and entrance to a VIP tent at the festival. Members of the AJC DBF Round Table get VIP reserved seating at all festival venues, preferred seating at year-round events, and invitations to private author receptions.
“As we prepare to celebrate our fifth annual festival, we’re launching the AJC DBF Circle and the AJC DBF Round Table to offer festival supporters ways to be part of one of the country’s fastest growing literary traditions,” AJC DBF Executive Director Daren Wang said.
The AJC DBF Round Table has evolved from the Literary Alliance, launched in 2008 to provide benefits for major festival donors. Annual membership in the Round Table is $1,000 per couple. In addition to reserved VIP festival seating, members receive an invitation to the festival launch party, reserved seats at festival events throughout the year, and invitations to private author receptions.
In previous years, the Literary Alliance has hosted private receptions with authors including Roy Blount Jr., Max Cleland, Paula Deen, John Lewis, and Salman Rushdie, and provided members with signed first editions of Roy Blount Jr.’s book, “Long Time Leaving — Dispatches from Up South” and Ted Turner’s book, “Call Me Ted.”
AJC DBF Circle membership is priced for individuals, families, and book clubs. Annual individual membership is $50. The price is $100 for a family of four and $250 for a book club of up to eight people.
Benefits of Circle membership include:
- Admission to a special member tent at the festival, with exclusive meet & greet opportunities
- Preferred seating at an AJC DBF holiday event
- An invitation to the festival launch party in June
- An invitation to the Book Bash scheduled for March 2011 exclusively for Circle members
- Reserved seating at special AJC DBF events throughout the year
- Exclusive offers from area bookstores
Since the first festival in 2006, book lovers from metro Atlanta and around the nation have gathered to enjoy book signings, author readings, panel discussions, an interactive children’s area, live music, parades, cooking demonstrations, poetry slams, writing workshops, and more.
This year’s festival will take place Labor Day weekend, Sept. 3-5, 2010.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Decatur Book Festival Presented by DeKalb Medical is the largest independent book festival in the country and the fourth largest overall. In 2009, more than 300 authors and tens of thousands of festival goers crowded the historic downtown Decatur Square to enjoy book signings, author readings, panel discussions, an interactive children’s area, live music, parades, cooking demonstrations, poetry slams, writing workshops, and more.
