Cooking Authors and Demonstrations

Food lovers at the fifth annual AJC Decatur Book Festival presented by DeKalb Medical will want to check out our food-related Festival events, including two presentations featuring Atlanta Journal-Constitution food columnist John Kessler.

Kessler will join James Beard Award-winning author Joseph E. Dabney to talk about the unique food of the South Carolina and Georgia Low Country at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Decatur Conference Center Stage (Ballroom A). Dabney’s new book, The Food, Folklore, and Art of Lowcountry Cooking: A Celebration of the Foods, History, and Romance Handed Down from England, Africa, the Caribbean, France, Germany, and Scotland, was published this year. He won the James Beard Award for Smokehouse Ham, Spoon Bread, and Scuppernong Wine: The Folklore and Art of Appalachian Cooking.

Kessler will also present a “Cooking with Kessler” session at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Cook’s Warehouse Stage.

At noon Sunday at Cook’s Warehouse stage, three popular authors will discuss their contribution to Cornbread Nation 5. Panelists include Alan Deutschman, Angie Mosier, and Tore Olsson.

Check out the online Festival schedule for the complete list of events at the Cook’s Warehouse food stage Saturday and Sunday.
