Matt Lassiter is the author of "The Silent Majority: Suburban Politics in the Sunbelt South." He is the co-editor of "The Moderates' Dilemma: Massive Resistance to School Desegregation in Virginia" with Andrew B. Lewis. He is currently working on the following projects: "The Suburban Crisis: The Pursuit and Defense of the American Dream" and "The End of Southern History," co-edited with Joseph Crespino. He is Associate Professor of History at the University of Michigan.
