Orville Vernon Burton, University Distinguished Teacher/Scholar at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, is the author or editor of ten books and the director of the Illinois Center for Computing in Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences. His most recent book is "The Age of Lincoln." Others include "Computing in the Social Sciences and Humanities," "Pitchfork Ben Tillman: South Carolinian," "In My Father's House Are Many Mansions: Family and Community in Edgefield, South Carolina," and "Toward a New South: Studies in Post-Civil War Southern Communities."
