Marvin Woods

TV host, chef and celebrated cookbook author Marvin Woods is constantly rewriting the book on Southern fare with the innovative style he calls “New American cuisine.” He has worked at such notable establishments as Harrah's at Trump Plaza in Atlantic City, The Sea Grill at Rockefeller Center, Windows on the World, The Helmsley Palace, Quatorze and Arizona 206 to name a few. To further hone his skills he went off to Europe and worked in London for four years. Other renowned restaurants where Woods has donned the chef bandanna include Café Beulah's in New York, Savannah Restaurant, The National Hotel and Hollywood Prime at the Westin Diplomat, all in Miami. He has received several invitations to the James Beard House in 1998-2001 and been a featured chef at the Pillsbury Bake-Off competition.
Currently, Woods hosts a cooking show called “Home Plate” on Turner South. Woods is also the author of two cookbooks: The New Country Cooking (2000, Harper Collins/William Morrow) and Home Plate Cooking (Thomas Nelson, 2004).
Woods' creative genius has been featured on Good Morning America; the Discovery Channel; O, The Oprah Magazine; Southern Living; and Food & Wine Magazine.
