Ignacio Padilla

Journalist, publisher, and diplomat, Ignacio Padilla, has lived and studied in Swaziland, Mexico, Scotland, Spain, and England. His works have been translated into more than 15 languages. Lire magazine listed him among the 50 most important writers for the coming century. He has won several national and international awards both for fiction and non-fiction. Among them: Juan Rulfo Award for First Novel, Malcolm Lowry Award for Non-Fiction, Kalpa Award for Science Fiction, José Revueltas National Award for Non-Fiction. In Spain he was granted the prestigious Primavera Award 2002 (fiction) and the NH Award (short story). In 2005 he published an extended essay on Miguel de Cervantes. Among his works, the most celebrated are his novel Shadow without a Name and his collection of short stories, Antipodes. Padilla belongs to the Crack Generation, which has recently become one of the most controversial and enriching literary movements in his language. He lives in Queretaro, Mexico.
