Cathleen Falsani, 35, is the religion writer for the Chicago Sun-Times newspaper, where she has covered her diverse “God beat” from locations as far afield as Vatican City, Vedic City, Ireland, Germany, the Caribbean, the West Wing, the Playboy Mansion and the dugout at Wrigley Field. She was honored as the 2005 James O. Supple Religion Writer of the Year by the Religion Newswriters Association (which represents more than 300 reporters, editors and producers who cover religion in North America for the secular media.)
Since 2001, Cathleen has written a weekly column on spirituality and popular culture for the Sun-Times, which has been distributed by Universal Press Syndicate since 2004. Her work has also appeared in Rolling Stone and Christianity Today magazines, and the Chicago Tribune newspaper.
A native of New England, she lives in the Chicago area with her husband and fellow journalist, Maurice Possley. Her first book, The God Factor: Inside the Spiritual Lives of Public People, was released to critical acclaim in March 2006 by Farrar, Straus & Giroux.
